Carol Silverman-Kurtz is a lifelong resident of Tenafly with roots that run deep in our borough. Since 1968, she has witnessed the evolution of our community from the perspective of a student, a parent of grown children, and a dedicated local leader. Her identity is woven into the fabric of this town, shaped by years of service as the Maugham School HSA President, a long-serving trustee and President of the Tenakill Swim Club, and leadership roles in the National Council of Jewish Women. With a background in marketing and the arts, Carol understands the power of listening to build bridges across differences. She is a staunch advocate for diversity and education, believing that our town’s cultural tapestry is its greatest strength. Her commitment to democratic values is informed by a career of civic engagement and a belief that leadership should be rooted in inclusion, social justice, and a forward-thinking vision that prepares our children for a complex world. Carol is running for Tenafly Council to ensure Tenafly remains a place where every voice is heard and every resident is invested in our shared future. Anne Nelson has been a proud Tenafly resident for 31 years, raising her family and serving the community for nearly three decades as an educator teaching French and Spanish at the Tenafly Middle School. Her rich multicultural background—shaped by her French and African American heritage and global experiences—instilled in her a deep belief in our shared values. Anne’s perspective is shaped by a legacy of service; her father served as a Tuskegee Airman during WWII, and her mother worked as a translator at the United Nations. She's  a member of the Tenafly Democratic Municipal Committee, serving as the District 3 Committeeperson and is running for Tenafly Council to bring her dedication to community service to the next level. Her platform focuses on strengthening the partnership between our school district and local government, ensuring our students and educators have the support they need to thrive. She is also committed to enhancing pedestrian safety for all ages and expanding engaging opportunities for middle schoolers to explore and learn outdoors. Above all, Anne is dedicated to preserving Tenafly’s unique character and charm while navigating future growth. She believes in thoughtful development that honors our heritage and ensures our neighborhoods remain safe, welcoming, and vibrant.
